Career support for the next generation of data leaders
The teams behind Census and The OA Club are pretty awesome, but the real stars of our community are the Data Champions that freely share their knowledge with their peers every day. 🤩
The OA Club Data Champions program is our way of recognizing the leaders in our community while helping them build their personal brands, give back to their peers, and receive more hands-on career growth support, as well as network with other data industry leaders in a small group setting.
Meet our OA Club Data Champions
How The OA Club Data Champions works
Each quarter, starting in Q1 ‘23, we open applications for this program. You’re welcome to apply yourself, or apply on behalf of an awesome person on your team. 🙌
The Census and OA Club teams will review all applications and choose the quarter’s cohort from that pool. From there, we’ll host monthly meetups for our new (and existing) Data Champions so folks can meet and network. Beyond getting access to these monthly meetings of the minds, Data Champions will receive:

Compensation for the content they create
Editorial review of your content + promotion on Community channels
RFP review for other conferences you speak at
Co-sponsorship for events you want to run in the Community throughout the year (e.g. workshops, local happy hours, etc.)
Peer-to-peer networking
Semi-annual Champions dinner with Census founders and data leaders
Sweet, sweet swag ✨
What we’re looking for in our Data Champions
Community is better when we build it together, and our Data Champions are at the forefront of this effort.
As part of their participation in this program, we’re asking our Data Champions to help us build the best community in data by doing the following:
- Adopt one (1) channel in The OA Club Slack as mayor (post regularly/answer questions)
- Hold 1 meet up per quarter in their area
- Write six pieces of content (or host six webinars if written content isn’t your jam) per year for OA Club channels
- Display their OA Club Data Champion status on LinkedIn
- Mentor another member in the community for at least two quarters of the year
